    teaching LANDINGS at Gymnastics

We teach landing and falling safely FIRST at Gym.

We teach landing and falling safely BEST at Gym.

Of the 6 movement patterns we teach, LANDINGS are the most important.

Children should practice in a padded playground under supervision long, long before they have a bad fall from a bicycle out in the cold, cruel world.

    Here’s an interesting fund-raiser:

This auction will be helping Play-it-Forward raise funds to support our upcoming February 2018 project in Tekera, Uganda. This rural community is riddled with poverty, which many of us cannot even imagine. …

We will coach how to ‘Play-it-Forward’ as we ensure to inspire, educate and empower the teachers of the school to carry on the mission. Our volunteers will travel from Calgary to Uganda and will bring and supply the school with thousands of dollars of athletic equipment, T-shirts, play booklets and sport kits for each child, nutritious food and teacher education and training.

    Keith Russell’s Rec Gymnastics manuals

Keith Russell has been the principle author of the Canadian coach education programme since 1978.

It’s considered one of the best in the world.

In fact, the FIG Foundations course was also authored by Keith.

Here’s how coach education works in Canada.

Everyone takes 4 hours of theory and the 9 hour Gymnastics Foundations course.

Next you can specialize in Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline or Active Start (preschool).

After completing some work at your own gym, you are evaluated and — finally — fully certified.

You can be an instructor with your own group of kids.

Unfortunately neither the FIG materials nor the Canadian materials are available for purchase. On the upside, you can buy Keith Russell’s school Gymnastics lesson plans online.

Wow Rick, that’s the simplest explanation of the GF program that I have seen! Thanks for that; I believe that the Introduction course is taken before the Theory.

    Self-taught Trampoline is too Dangerous

Landon Smith broke his neck at Jump Park Trampoline in January.

We recommend that EVERYONE train with certified, experienced coaches at a Club. Backyard Tramps and drop-in Trampoline Centres are too dangerous.
