The British Columbia Provincial Masters Program …
Competitions are judged and competitors receive fun gifts and special awards for their amazing feats. Adults are eligible to compete in this category if they are over 18 and have not competed in the formal competitive structure in the current year. Different age categories are available, as to not discourage older performers to participate. Rules are loose and lenient, and judging is very casual.
There are presently 14 different events, featuring men’s artistic gymnastics, women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline gymnastics. There are no gender restrictions, so men and women can compete, and are encouraged to partake, in all 14 events. …
Routines must fulfill minimum requirements, which can be found within the Gymnastics BC Adult Code of Points (PDF). Adults are loosely judged out of 10, by non-certified but knowledgeable “judges”.

If you know of an ‘elderer‘ gymnast who can do kip, leave a comment. (We’ll need video proof as well as a copy of birth certificate.)
Otherwise, Diana is World’s Oldest Kip. I assume she’ll now apply to be sponsored by Tumbl Trak.
Diana trains at Twisters in Port Townsend, Washington. More photos.
I don’t know how old she is, but I do have a video of a 60-year old man from The Netherlands that did giant swings (in special swing-grips). You can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T93p-zT6p3A

That’s the first time I’ve seen “difficulty” restricted for the snowboard guys. Good idea.
This is great inspiration and it shows camaraderie, bloopers, cool skills, two-at-a-time routines and all the fun stuff that you don’t see at regular gymnastics meets. This is what first-time competitors need to see. It demonstrates all the ways in which masters meets are all about good times and different from regular meets. The emphasis is on fun, not results! …

Jessica O’Beirne edits the best site for Adult Gymnastics. She interviewed me after my presentation at the B.C. Gymnastics Congress:
…
MG: How to you deal with overly-confident adult gymnasts? e.g. the ones who haven’t done anything in a long time but are sure they can still “throw” a skill or beginner who just want to “try” a back flip without learning the basics?RM: Best practice is to go personally coach the adults that make you nervous. That works for me. Worst case, you must STOP dangerous drills. (Double forward somersaults into the pit, ‘gainer’ backward somersaults, etc.)
